Your Fall Vacation Awaits:

Basically turn any which way and you’ll find a lush forest – Nantahala National Forest, Pisgah National Forest and Dupont State Forest just to name a few for you. You can watch the water drop at Looking Glass Falls or get out on the trails to see why the city is nicknamed “The Land of Waterfalls.” It’s stunning and an amazing fall vacation.

That’s right. Travel to Stowe, Vermont and you can see the foliage from above on an exhilarating zipline. You can still stay on the ground if you want to with some local trails or a group mountain biking tour, but that view from above is just incredible.

Jefferson, New Hampshire

Fall Vacation - Jefferson, New Hampshire

This is such a peaceful location with the White Mountains nearby. The air is fresh, the scenery is gorgeous and there’s plenty of hiking. You can travel to the Pondicherry Wildlife Refuge to check out what they have to offer to round out your relaxing fall vacation.

Milford, Pennsylvania

With a backdrop of the Pocono Mountains, it’s easy to see why this would be a beautiful fall vacation. But there’s more to it than just that. You’re only about a 90-minute drive from New York City if you want some big city life, but in Milford, it’s small town all the way. There are beautiful falls from the Delaware River and streets lined with Victorian buildings. It’s the perfect place to get away from it all.

Clayton, Georgia

Fall Vacation - Clayton, Georgia

The city of Clayton is at the foot of Black Rock Mountain with the Chattooga River nearby. It’s a great place to go white-water rafting in a breathtaking landscape with waterfalls. And you’re only a few miles from the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, so you have all you’d need for the perfect fall vacation.

West Glacier, Montana

Fall Vacation - West Glacier, Montana

Fall is the perfect time to visit West Glacier with all the leaves turning and with the summer crowds thinning out. That gives all those there for the gorgeous fall foliage the chance to have some breathing room. And it’s the perfect place to stay to visit Glacier National Park nearby.

Looking back in history, Weaverville was a much-needed retreat in the 19th century for those needing an escape from the summer heat. Its cool air and mountain views make it just as amazing in the fall. You can drive along the famous Blue Ridge Parkway or hit the trails at the Alexander Bike Park or even take a picnic to the shores of Lake Louise. It’s a fall-lover’s dream.

    • Hi there, Rita! Great question!

I’ll list them out so it’s easy to follow.

Brevard, North Carolina – Our resorts in Sapphire, NC are just about half an hour away.

Stowe, Vermont – We actually have resorts IN Stowe, so you can’t get much closer than that!

Jefferson, New Hampshire – Our resort in Franconia, NH is just about a half-hour drive away.

Milford, Pennsylvania – We have resorts in both Hawley, PA and Tafton, PA that are 30-45 minutes away.

Clayton, Georgia – Clarkesville, GA is about 30 minutes away and Helen, GA is about 45 minutes away. Both pretty easy drives!

West Glacier, Montana – Our resort in Columbia Falls, MT is a little under 30 minutes away and our resort in Bigfork, MT is just under an hour away.

Weaverville, North Carolina – This is the one that probably has the longest drive from one of our resorts, but it’s still just about an hour from our Lake Lure resort.

And if you’re looking for something even closer, all GDV members have access to our world class travel agency and can always call to book vacations through them. They’re always happy to help and get you on the perfect vacation!
