Member Monday: Sea Shells Beach Club by the Seashore

Sherry and Mel B. have been to Sea Shells Beach Club in Daytona, Florida, every year with Global Discovery Vacations for the past 10 years, so if anyone knows the area, it’s this couple. In this week’s Member Monday, they fill you in on the best hotspots in eastern Florida. But none of it beats the beach!

Where would you recommend a fellow member to go to…
Eat
Generally we eat most meals at the condo but sometimes go out to Ruby Tuesday, Daytona Pig Stand BBQ, Steak and Shake, Olive Garden and, recently, Pirana Grill.

Shop
We enjoy going to the Daytona Flea and Farmers Market. This is best place to go for your souvenirs, fresh fruit and vegetables.

Have fun/attractions
Some of the local historic sites, the piers, and shops.

A couple of our favorites are St. Augustine, Ponce De Leon Park and Lighthouse, driving on the beach and the breakwater in the park. We have also gone para-sailing, which was a blast. We have been to the Marine and Science Center, the Ocean Walk shops as well as the Daytona Speedway track tour.

What was your favorite:
Resort/Condominium Amenity or Room
Our favorite part of the resort is the small private balcony on the side of the building. Only six condos have this feature. This is where I would drink my morning coffee. Watching the waves roll in and listening to the surf. Very soothing.

Place to go in the destination
Our favorite place to go here is of course the beach. It’s the best feature of all and it’s why most people go to Daytona, other than Bike Week and Race Week. It is the beach. You can walk for miles or just a few steps. Dip your toes in the water or stare out to sea.

Why did you choose this destination?
We chose this place because Sea Shells is a small inn on the ocean. There aren’t a lot of people and the staff is very helpful and friendly. We can just kick back and enjoy the weather. We come from a rather cold climate and this is our chance to warm up a bit after a cold winter in the north.

Were you traveling for a special occasion? If yes, what?
My husband has just recently retired and we hope to enjoy many more vacations through Global Discovery Vacations. We have traveled to Sea Shells for the past 10 years and enjoyed every trip. We hope to share many more vacations with our children and grandchildren. Happy vacation planning to other Global members.

About you

How long have you been a Global Discovery Vacations member?
We have been members since 2004.

Why did you join the club?
We had previously owned a time share but have found that our Global membership works better for us.
