Global Discovery Vacations Review: From North to South Padre Island

Global Discovery Vacations members James and Janet W. recently flew from Michigan to South Padre Island, Texas, for a scenic vacation on the Gulf. Staying at the Solare Tower Condominiums, they give us a quick rundown of South Padre recommendations in this week’s Member Monday.

Where would you recommend a fellow member to go to…
Eat:
Pier 19. Great fresh seafood at reasonable prices and we were able to watch the dolphins play during our meal. Go to the open area on the restaurant’s pier.

Painted Marlin: Very friendly wait staff and beautiful bay view. We enjoyed watching the sailboats and yachts while having fantastic seafood. The ceviche was a big hit.

Shop:
There were plenty of the usual beach items stores. What we enjoyed most was finding a fresh seafood market called Los Tortugo’s Seafood. It had a large variety of freshly caught seafood, including an enormous selection of various size shrimp, fish and prepared ceviche. A must for those wanting to utilize the exceptional kitchen provided by the Solare Resort.

Have fun/attractions:

Must-sees are Sea Turtle Inc. and the South Padre Island Birding and Nature Center, both of which are within walking distance from Solare.

We enjoyed the beach, including a 90-minute horseback riding experience on a stretch of nearly deserted beach, which later proved to provide the best area for seashells.

What was your favorite…

Solare ranks as one of our very best vacation experiences ever! We enjoyed stunning accommodations with an ideal location. We are already planning our return request for next year.
