After staying at Island Links in Hilton Head, South Carolina, with friends, member Becky R. shared it was one of her favorite places to visit through Global Travel. In fact, she stays here often, including a March trip with her son and daughter-in-law. As a frequent traveler, we had to ask her to share some recommendations about the area with you. This is what she said:
Why Island Links?
Island Links is one of our favorite places to travel to through Global Discovery Vacations. We enjoy the “laid back”, “not in a hurry” feeling we experience at Island Links.
Where do you recommend for good dining?
Paula Dean has a restaurant in the historic district near the riverfront.
The Squat and Gobble is a local restaurant—food is great!
Go to Harbour Town to watch the beautiful sunsets and eat at The Salty Dog.
The Old Oyster Factory on Marshland Road offers a great view.
For awesome pizza go to Gluseppi’s Pizza and Pasta; great flavor and good portions.
For a good breakfast, lunch or dinner, go to Hilton Head Diner. It is open 24 hours; good food and service.
Where do you recommend other members visit when traveling to Hilton Head?
Bluffton is close to Hilton Head. Go to old town Bluffton and walk around in the shops.
Beaufort is only 29 miles northeast of Hilton Head. Spend the day walking through town viewing beautiful old homes, visiting shops and enjoying a tasty lunch at The Beaufort Inn. While there, take a ride out to Hunting Island and see the beautiful lighthouse and village.
Spend another day in Savannah, Georgia. It is only 29 miles south of Hilton Head. Walk along the riverfront or take a trolley tour through historic Savannah via Oglethorpe bus tours.
About the Resort:
The resort is well taken care of and the staff is very friendly and very helpful. No matter the weather, there are always fun things to do.
We have been members of Global Discovery Vacations since March 2005. I took my family of 19 to Hawaii for a three week vacation when I retired in 2006. Global Discovery Vacations helped me to plan the trip; cruise, air, condos and fun things to do. It was a vacation to remember.
We usually travel five weeks a year. My son and siblings usually travel two weeks a year. We really like the Expressways and now the “Pop Up” specials you offer monthly. We hope to travel more in 2014!
