Visiting another country is full of thrilling and enlightening cultural differences. But to get there, certain countries require official documentation besides just a passport to enter. That’s where travel visas come into play.
When you’re using Global Connections Inc. to travel overseas to a country that requires a visa, here are the basics you’ll need to know.
What is a Travel Visa?
A travel visa is a document or a stamp/sticker placed inside your passport that allows you to visit a particular country for a certain timeframe.
The type of visa you will get depends on where you’re going, how long you’re going and what you’re going for (business, tourist, transitory).
NOTE: A travel visa is NOT a VISA credit card! They both derive from the same Latin word, which means “seen” or “accepted.”
I Have a Passport. Doesn’t that Count?
Passports certainly count when it comes to your identification and proof of citizenship in foreign lands, but it’s not enough to grant you access into certain countries.
An easy way to remember it: You get your passport from your country’s government, whereas you get your visa from the country you are visiting.
When do You Need a Visa?
The requirements change almost daily, so that’s a hard question to answer. The good news is that you can find out easily online! Just visit a website such as CIBTvisas and you can check the requirements for your destination.
How Do I Get a Visa?
We have a partnership with CIBTvisas, which also happens to be one of the easiest processes to acquire a visa. Just login with the account number 43646 and fill out the application. Like a passport, there is also a fee, but you’ll get a small discount with that code! Make sure to have a valid passport and your travel itinerary on hand.
