Still planning your vacation for the upcoming and can’t decide on a destination? We get it – there are too many places to choose from! Let’s narrow that list down and make choosing a little easier.
From non-stop partying to serene landscapes, here are the places that will make your Global Discovery Vacations 2018 vacation one to remember.
One of the best ways for an area to recover after a significant storm is for tourists to come and give a boost to the economy. The hurricanes of 2017 are long past, but their effects can take years to mend.
The storms avoided a vast majority of the islands, but popular travel destinations such as St. Maarten, Anguilla and Puerto Rico suffered billions of dollars’ worth of damage. If you would like to help a community rebuild, these islands would welcome any traveler. If you want a standard Caribbean vacation, several countries have rebounded to their paradise-like state, namely Antigua, the Bahamas, Dominican Republic and St. Kitts.
For continuous updates on each island, the official Caribbean tourism website is a fantastic resource.
Hawaii could be on this list every year, so what’s new in 2018? Get this: Southwest Airlines announced it will add service to the Aloha State this year. And with that comes potentially lower fares through Southwest’s deals and checked-bag policy. Also, Hawaii is drop-dead gorgeous, no matter what island you’re on.
New Orleans, Louisiana
The Big Easy is turning 300 this year and no way is it going to act its age. New Orleans already throws some amazing festivals, parties and parades, and 2018 is going to be even bigger than usual. The riverfront area is getting a number of upgrades, including a Spanish Plaza, new hotels with rooftop dining, and several new infrastructures. Add that to an already charismatic French Quarter, and the tricentennial will be a celebration for the ages.
Los Cabos, Mexico
Lost Cabos is becoming the “it” place for beachgoers. The Baja Peninsula features a rare mix of vibrant culture and revitalizing atmosphere and you’ll find whatever you need out of a vacation you’ll at this surging destination. Just about any resort or hotel in the area puts you within distance of the ever-popular nightlife scene while offering a tranquil retreat when you need it.
The Tourist Corridor – 20 miles connecting Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo – has all the beaches, bars, art galleries and golf courses easily laid out for your convenience. Let the margarita flow and your stress evaporate.
We’ve covered the coast extensively already, so let’s see what’s going on in the Midwest. Everything that qualifies as quintessential Branson is getting something new in 2018:
- A visually stunning rendition of Samson at Sight and Sound Theatre
- Silver Dollar City’s new Time Traveler (coming this spring), the world’s fastest, steepest and tallest complete-circuit spinning roller coaster
- Another new golf course (with a couple designed by Tiger Woods on the way).
- Plus new acts on the Showboat Branson Belle.
And of course there’s much more to see and do, from Table Rock Lake and the Ozark Mountains to live performances and attractions galore.
Asheville, North Carolina
What do you know – Lonely Planet ranked Asheville as their top destination to visit last year! Whether you drive in from the Great Smoky Mountains side or from Banner Elk, North Carolina, the drive along the Blue Ridge Mountains is something to behold, especially in the spring and fall. Then you have the must-see attraction in the area: The Biltmore Estate, which is an 8000-acre property featuring 250 rooms, 43 bathrooms a bowling area, immaculate gardens and so much more.
Those destinations should have a little something for everybody, so make your 2018 one to remember!
