We give you five of the best for families from Visit St. Petersburg/Clearwater.

Top 5 Florida Family Attractions

The Beach
Take your kids to the beach: It’s the only Florida destination to have two of its beaches—Fort De Soto Park and Caladesi Island State Park—reach the top spot on coastal expert Dr. Beach’s coveted “America’s Best Beaches” list.

Art & Culture
Give the whole family art and culture: This beautiful peninsula can be found on Florida’s west coast and is an epicenter of art and culture from around the world, hosting a total of 31 museums including the Dali Museum, which is home to the largest and most comprehensive collection of the famous Spanish artist’s work in America.

For teenager and Dads (or sports fanatic moms): St. Petersburg is the birthplace of baseball Spring Training. The Philadelphia Phillies, Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Yankees all train within 20 miles of Tampa.

Famous Dolphin
St. Pete/Clearwater served as the backdrop for “Dolphin Tale” the 3D major motion picture about Clearwater Marine Aquarium’s famous tailless dolphin resident, Winter. The whole family can visit the Clearwater Marine Aquarium and meet Winter, the star!

Outdoor Fitness
For the fit and active: Instructors of KaYoga lead kayaking groups to secluded barrier islands where they unwind with gentle, relaxing Hatha yoga on the beach. Local yoga and fitness expert Tim Ganley created KaYoga as a way to combine exercise while enjoying the natural environment and beautiful scenery of St. Petersburg/Clearwater.

Art, culture, beach, sports and great sunny weather year-round make Florida the perfect Global Discovery Vacations family getaway—where there is truly something for everyone.

  1. Great photos! We are going to the Clearwater Aquarium next month then driving down to Ft. Myers Beach and taking the Key West Express ferry down to Key West to see the Aquarium there. We rode the ferry down with the kids last year and had a blast at the Ripleys Museaum and Shipwreck Museaum. Definately the best way to get down without having the kids stuck in the car for 10 plus hours!
