With a new year comes a clean slate, endless possibilities and a lot of partying. Think you can’t indulge while traveling with Global Discovery Vacations? Think again.
Pop the champagne at one of these six yearly New Year’s Eve events:
Just like everything else at the park, New Year’s Eve in Disney World is a magical experience. Head over to Magic Kingdom Park for the New Year countdown with a magnificent fireworks show. Epcot celebrates New Year’s around the world with IllumiNations, lighting the sky with positive messages. Hollywood Studios will also feature fireworks, as well as live music. Keep an eye out for all the other New Year’s events going on around the park!
Annual Winterfest of Lights Ocean City, Maryland
If you’re in Ocean City for New Year’s Eve, check out the fireworks show at Northside Park with some live entertainment and comforting hot chocolate. You can even take a ride through the Winterfest of Lights as well as enjoy a number of New Year’s specials.
Wylie the Walleye Drop (Port Clinton, Ohio)
There are some interesting New Year’s Eve ball drop alternatives across the nation, but this is one of the more interesting ones you’ll see. When the clock strikes midnight, the town gathers as a 20-foot, 600-pound fiberglass walleye is lowered to commemorate the upcoming year. In its 20th year, millions of people tune into watch, but this has become a one-of-a-kind event you just have to experience for yourself.
New Year’s Eve Ball Drop (Gatlinburg, Tennessee)
Feast your eyes on the spectacular Space Needle at midnight as it gets the new year started with a fireworks display and LED lights adding to the brilliance. Though this is the place you’ll want to be when the ball drops, shops and restaurants all around Gatlinburg will have New Year’s specials galore.
Lake Tahoe Heavenly Holidays (Lake Tahoe, Nevada)
Join the festivities at the outdoor entertainment and shopping district in Heavenly Village each year during the month of December. This event utilizes the cold weather to its advantage with professional ice skating and ice sculpting, and a life-size snow globe. The main event comes on New Year’s Eve when the World’s only Gondola Ball Drop brings in the New Year.
Breckenridge may not have the attention of New York on New Year’s Eve, but it has mountains and it knows how to use them. Fireworks and lights will light up the Rocky Mountains as children are invited to ski down green terrain in the glow worm parade. Soon after, the customary Torchlight Parade creates an amazing effect throughout the mountains. You won’t see that in New York City.
No matter where you are, New Year’s Eve is a great time to spend with loved ones and anticipate what’s in store for the next 365 days. If you’re ever traveling with Global Discovery Vacations during the holiday, be sure to check out these events and more during your stay. Now is the perfect time to start looking ahead to New Year’s 2016!
