Second-Place F&F Photo Exemplifies Joy of Family Vacations

Having never traveled as a child, member Ha T. wanted to make sure his kids saw the world. He’s off to a great start and he’s got the photos to prove it. Coming in second place in the Shoot for the Stars Family and Friends category, Ha’s photo shows a happy family with an iconic Myrtle Beach backdrop – the joys of travel.

Where did you take this photo?

We took a walk to the Boardwalk because you have to visit the Boardwalk when you’re in Myrtle Beach. We were on that pier – you have to pay a few bucks to get to it. Around the pier, we were taking a picture and the kids were just being silly.

That was my first time to Myrtle Beach. We set up a vacation for my father- and mother-in-law, but they invited us to go.

What kinds of places to you like to visit?

I like to travel and do different things. We’ve been all over the place. The beach is nice. Gatlinburg, Tennessee, was also nice because it’s a Global Connections resort, so you have the cabins of White Oak Lodge. Aruba was good. I liked the weather and everything was perfect, though it was expensive. We’ve stayed in Oahu, but I’d like to try a different island that’s not as busy.

I’d like to go to Niagara Falls, out in the west and in the desert, and the Grand Canyon. We haven’t had a chance to do that.

Why do you like to travel?

We usually do one vacation a year. It’s just a way to spend time with the family. I didn’t travel a lot with my family growing up – we didn’t take vacations. The more places my kids see and the more experiences they have, they’ll understand growing up that everything is different. But it’s all about being a family.

I liked to see new places, and I’ve been all over, even before Global Discovery Vacations. But when I bought the membership a long time ago, I wasn’t married and I didn’t have kids. I just thought the membership would be good to have in case one day I did have a family, especially because I didn’t get to travel as a kid.
I’ve had Global Discovery Vacations for a long time. I let everyone I know about it. I think it’s one of the better clubs out there.

What made you decide to enter the contest?

This is only the second time I’ve entered and I didn’t think the one that won would have won. I was at the Global office in Myrtle Beach and they had a poster with real members. I just thought, “I have the perfect picture for that.” It shows my kids from the back jumping on the beach and it’s artsy, not posed. To me it epitomizes what the membership is about.

That’s a great sentiment, Ha, we will take that to heart! Now that he and his family have their Activity Fee for next year paid for, we can’t wait to see what other family travels await!
