Did you know you’re supposed to reconfirm your condominium reservation with Global Discovery Vacations before you travel? You’ll find instructions on who to call in the Check-In Information section of your Guest Reservation Confirmation. Perhaps even more importantly, you’ll find out when to call.
Call 24-Hours Prior to Your Check-In Date, Not Before.
Call the number listed under the Check-In Information, 24 hours prior to arrival. Not 48 hours before or a week before, but 24 hours before. Why? Your name might not be at the resort yet.
Resorts are assigning guests to rooms the week of travel. Why you ask? A few reasons:
To Be Assigned Units
If the units are not pre-assigned (TBA or TBD on your Guest Reservation Confirmation), the resort staff tries to accommodate everyone’s special requests. Resorts in the Global Discovery Vacations program are not exclusively for the use of the travel club. The staff receives inbounds from many different places so assigning units takes some time.
It’s more efficient for front desk staff to wait to the week of travel in case the Guest Name changes. Reservations are reserved so far in advance, some people may cancel, or their plans could change on who will arrive first. Only the person named on a Guest Reservation Confirmation will be given keys to enter the unit. With so much paperwork necessary to assure accuracy, the travel industry has adopted this procedure, not just Global Connections.
What happens if you reconfirm more than 24 hours ahead?
You’re upset, unnecessarily
If you call before the 24-hour threshold, the resort might not have your name set in their system yet. This does not mean you do not have a reservation! The paperwork and transfer are not complete. If you call 24 hours ahead, your name will be there and you are not unnecessarily worrying before your Global Discovery Vacations adventure. If you’re traveling internationally, don’t forget to take into consideration the time difference. Call 24 hours ahead in the time zone of where you’re going!
Don’t leave without your Guest Reservation Confirmation!
You are confirmed as soon as you receive your email or mailed Guest Reservation Confirmation. Do not leave home without it; this important paperwork accompanied by your photo identification is proof you are supposed to be in the unit on the listed travel dates.
