Quiet, Please! How to Deal With Noisy Condo Neighbors

If there is a time for you to let loose, laugh and dance with joy, it’s on vacation. But when you’re at a Global Discovery Vacations resort and have other guests around, everyone deserves to have peace and quiet.

We can’t control stomping feet from adjacent condos, but we can give you some tips on how to deal with unwelcome and excessive commotion disrupting your vacation. Try these tactics next time you’re confronted with noisy neighbors:

Ask Them Nicely
In our experience, guests usually don’t realize how much noise they’re causing. This is especially true if their children are running amok, since they may be immune to the racket. In any case, a polite request will usually get them to lower the volume. All the roughhousing can be annoying, but we’re confident that no one is actively trying to prevent you from having a relaxing vacation.

NOTE: Soundproofing throughout condos can vary, so please be understanding when you can hear other guests do normal activities and only bring it up if they can control it.

Call the Front Desk (If Available)
If for whatever reason you’re unable to speak with the source of the noise directly, you can call the front desk during its normal business hours and see what they can do.

Call Global
In the event that your resort doesn’t have a front desk to handle guests’ needs, give our Member Relations a call during normal business hours. If we control the boisterous unit, we will contact the member and advise them that there was a noise complaint from another guest. Usually, that will do the job.

If we do not manage that particular unit, which means that the resort or the homeowner is in charge, unfortunately we can’t contact whoever is staying in that room.

Last Resort: Call the Authorities
If the noise is excessive and/or beyond normal hours, we leave you the option to call the authorities. We’ve seen it happen, especially around Spring Break, where police will have to break up loud parties that extend long into the night. We never want it to come to that, but we understand there are times when people can have a little too much fun at the expense of others.

We don’t want a perfect vacation experience ruined by rambunctious neighbors, but you have a couple of ways to solve the problem rationally and efficiently. And let this be a reminder to be mindful of other guests while you’re on vacation as well!
