Vermont is an excellent location at any time of the year. In an area known for skiing, Stowe easily holds its own when the winter sport enthusiasts have left for the season. Global Discovery Vacations member Bonny J. decided that the Mountainside Resort made for the perfect location to enjoy the picturesque surroundings of this New England gem.
While the sauna, hot tub and beautiful views of the Green Mountains provided relaxation at the resort, there were numerous outdoor activities that Bonny and her family had planned. This week’s Member Monday will reveal the highlights of Stowe.
Where would you recommend a fellow member to go to…
The Vermont way: Eat local, eat fresh. We enjoyed having a full kitchen. Food runs took us to local markets for fresh produce, meats and other local specialty products. For us, a great benefit of Global is having the ability to cook our own meals.
Downtown Stowe offers many unique shops, including a local general store. Antique stores are plentiful in the area and Burlington is less than an hour away.
Our spring trip offered numerous options for hiking. There were many great trials for the experienced hiker and excellent shorter trails to destinations such as waterfalls, for those wanting something less strenuous. The Stowe Recreation Path is a 5 1/2 mile paved path great for walking, running and biking. The ski area is well worth a drive to get some beautiful views. For a rainy day, it’s a quick drive to Ben & Jerry’s, the Cider Mill, breweries, distilleries, wineries, Cabot, local markets and artisan shops. Plenty of areas to explore.
What was your favorite…
The pool, sauna and hot tub were great! Nice fitness area. Clean and well maintained.
Why did you choose this destination? Were you traveling for a special occasion?
A week away with four women in my family, within 300 miles from home, we choose Stowe for hiking, antiquing and relaxation. We love the rolling hills of the Green Mountains and our unit had beautiful views.
What was your favorite memory of your vacation?
The relaxed atmosphere offered us time to talk, laugh and enjoy our time with family.
How long have you been a Global Discovery Vacations member?
My husband and I joined Global in 2013.
Why did you join the club?
We like the option of not being held to a particular condo location as with a timeshare, the ability to use Star Credits at our discretion and the additional added bonus of Expressway Weeks. For our travel preferences, Global works well!
How many trips have you taken using your membership?
We’ve traveled four times with Global, including a family trip which included 12 people.
Why do you think traveling is important?
Traveling allows us to open our eyes, enjoy our time, and share experiences with our family and friends.
