Member Monday: Spectacular Bird’s-Eye View of Arizona

Global Discovery Vacations members Dan and Rebecca L. were lucky enough to see the Grand Canyon and Arizona’s wondrous rugged landscape from a unique perspective. Hear about their stay at the Scottsdale Camelback Resort in this week’s Member Monday.

Where would you recommend a fellow member to go to…
Have fun/attractions:
A great place we visited was Sedona. We were told about it, and you couldn’t miss it, due to the red rocks from the air on our flight to the Grand Canyon, but seeing it up close was so much better.

What was your favorite…
Resort/Condo Amenity:
We loved the Scottsdale Camelback Resort. Our villa was so nice and we loved the pool area. The poolside grille served great food, specialty drinks and the staff was awesome. We met so many nice people who came from all over the place, such as Canada, Colorado, etc.

On cool evenings, you can go to the huge hot tub, which is also in the pool area as well as a stone fireplace to sit around. There are flat-screen television sets all around the pool area, which was really cool. We were so spoiled by this resort, it’s going to be hard to beat. There is so much to do there.

Why did you choose this destination? Were you traveling for a special occasion?
I do have some relatives who live there, but that wasn’t the only reason we picked Arizona as our vacation. There is so much to do and see that you almost need to stay longer than a week.

What was your favorite memory of your vacation?
Our favorite thing was taking an air tour on a nine-seat airplane to the Grand Canyon. It was indescribable. They flew us over different well-known areas on our flight there. On our headset, they explained the history and everything that was below. Then they flew us over the entire Grand Canyon.

When we landed, a pink jeep picked us up and took us inside the park and also served us box lunches to eat as we looked over the Grand Canyon.

Any tips for a traveler to this resort or destination? Anything you think they should bring?
Don’t forget your sunscreen because the Arizona sun is hot.

Additional Comments:
Global has a full-service travel agency that can help you with so many different things! We had planned another trip in spring of 2013 to the Bahamas, but due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to cancel. So, if you have any doubts about something arising that you are unable to go, I would recommend the travel insurance that they offer. It was a very smooth transition when we had to cancel, other than being disappointed that we couldn’t go.

About you

How long have you been a Global Discovery Vacations member?
We have been members since 2011.

Why did you join the club?
When we were approached, it just seemed too good to pass up! We just booked another trip yesterday to Palm Springs, California, in September.

How many trips have you taken using your membership?
We have a nephew who lives in Los Angeles and you can go see many things in only a short time from Palm Springs. We went to Solana Beach in California in April 2012, which was our first trip we went on through Global, and it was very nice as well. We didn’t know what to expect, but we were not disappointed.

Why do you think traveling is important?
I feel vacation is a very important thing to do in your life, and GDV makes it simple and affordable! We are from Indianapolis, Indiana, and each place that we have gone, I always say the same thing: “I could live here!”
