Pictured above: Paul and Gloria on their road trip before they took a ride on a helicopter (also on the bucket list) over Bryce Canyon, Utah.
Paul and Gloria B. have always wanted to travel across the country, and having both retired, they could finally dedicate a few months to traveling! Starting from their home in Florida, they traveled all the way to California and back. Along they way, they stayed at a few resorts with Global Discovery Vacations, one of their favorites being Blue Ridge Village in Banner Elk, North Carolina. They shared their amazing trip in this week’s Member Monday:
Where would you recommend a fellow member to go to…
We generally eat in a lot as that is one of the benefits of having a condo. However, I had great ribs at the Pedalin’ Pig and my husband enjoyed their burger.
We enjoyed shopping at the Mast General Store in Boone and in Valle Crucis.
Enjoyed Grandfather Mountain and just relaxing at the resort.
What was your favorite:
Resort/Condominium Amenity or Room
At this resort, it was the wonderful pool and hot tub!
Why did you choose this destination?
We love the mountains.
Who did you travel with?
Were you traveling for a special occasion? If yes, what?
We both have retired and we were finishing up on our top item from our bucket list which was to go cross-country. We started on February 22 and got back to Florida on May 20. We traveled from Florida through Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah, Kansas, Missouri, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina and then back to Florida.
What was your favorite memory of your vacation?
The beautiful National Parks in Utah.
Six weeks of our 12-week trip were spent in condos booked through Global Discovery Vacations: Bandera Resort in the Texas Hill Country (about 45 minutes from San Antonio); Winners Circle in Solana Beach (about 20 minutes north of San Diego); Desert Paradise Resort in Las Vegas; Christi Lodge in Avon, Colorado; Pointe Royal Resort in Branson, Missouri; and lastly Blue Ridge Village at Sugar Mountain. In between, we spent some time at hotels (Priceline) and time with families. However, we really enjoyed our time at the wonderful resorts.
How long have you been a Global Discovery Vacations member?
We have been members for about nine years, but just recently (after re-retirement) have been able to use Global Discovery Vacations much more.
Why did you join the club?
To get to spend some great vacations with quality accommodations.
What is your profession?
I am a retired banker and my husband is a retired minister.
How many trips have you taken using your membership?
Lost track of how many! But we will be using it much more now that we can travel more often. Your Expressways are a great deal for those that can travel in the next 60 days!
Thank you Global for help making our cross-country trip such a memorable experience!
