In Unit vs Onsite: Where Are Your Amenities?

From beaches and swimming pools to washer and dryers and whirlpool tubs; when choosing a Global Discovery Vacations resort, amenities play a very important role. For many members, where they are located is a driving factor in choosing a place to stay.

So what does On Site and Unit Amenities really mean?

When you view a resort listing online before making a reservation, click on the Resort Tab or the Unit Tab. On the Resort tab, Laundry will show if there are appliances in the unit, onsite or nearby off property. Click on the Unit tab and you’ll see if the washer and dryer are in your unit for personal use or on site for all to use.

Resort Amenities are the amenities you’ll find on the property at the resort.
Unit Amenities are those amenities you’ll find inside your condominium.

The most common misconception of Global Discovery Vacations travelers is that an On-Site resort amenity is inside the unit, most specifically washer/dryers.

If the washer/dryer is listed under Resort Amenities as On Site, that means you’ll find these appliances somewhere on the grounds of the resort for use by all the guests. Some of these machines are complimentary; some may require a fee for use.

What do you do if your washer/dryer is on or off site?

In some destinations, you’ll find a midweek towel/linen exchange for condominiums that do not come with a washer/dryer in the unit. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is a prime example. Global Connections has a Property Management office on the Grand Strand who offers this service if our members do not want to do laundry on site!

Check your Welcome Book when you enter the unit to see what services you can take advantage of when you travel with Global Discovery Vacations. Not all locations offer a mid-week towel exchange, some might not have a washer/dryer anywhere on property. Global Connections strives to find condos with this convenient amenity for our members. In the rare instances it is not available, a laundry mat is usually found nearby.

Whether you’re planning your family vacation or have a Global Discovery Vacations condo booked, make sure you understand where your amenities are located. Resort Amenities are on the grounds, Unit Amenities are inside your unit.

Do you do laundry when you’re on vacation? Tell us why in the comments below.

  1. Yes, a “in-unit” washer/dryer are VERY important to me. I try to pack light, so I need to wash and re-wear my clothes. When in a warm climate, one often changes clothes more frequently, therefore, causing more laundry. I don’t want to wait in line for the 2 to 4 washers/dryers a property might have. It is so much more convenient to have the appliance IN OUR UNIT.
