With so many dining, attractions and shopping options, it’s practically impossible for Global Connections to keep up with a list of the best places to visit on your vacation. But there’s this great place to find all sorts of information—the Internet!

Top Sites to Find Tourism Information

Global Travels Blog

When we send you on a vacation, we want you to have the time of your life! So we developed Global Travels Blog to be a place you can find information about your Global Discovery Vacations travel club membership and places to visit! You’ll find Destination Guides to places our members frequent, plus you’ll discover what other members have done in the Member Reviews!

TripAdvisor

The go-to place for accommodation, attraction and restaurant reviews for just about any destination. Read tips from people who have been there, see user-submitted photos and plan your trip with TripAdvisor‘s rankings. Though your trip using the membership might not always be the same as a general visitor, it’s a good way to get a feel for the resort or attraction you’re researching.

Global Discovery Vacations Map Function

When you’re researching a resort on your member’s-only website make sure you click on Map & Points of Interest. This interactive function allows you to Search Points of Interest! You choose what you’re interested in, from amusement parks and museums to restaurants and grocery stores. As you make selections, watch the screen as little icons drop down showing you what is around the resort! Click on the icon and you’ll get the business name, address, contact information, web address and more!

YELP!

YELP is an online city guide that helps you find places to eat, shop, drink, relax and play, based on the informed opinions of its users. You can use Yelp to discover what’s great—and not so great—in your resort destination. Simply enter what kind of business you’re looking for and the city and state to get a list. You decide how to order reviews by clicking one of the links just above the reviews (e.g., date, rating, voting, etc). Some businesses on Yelp even offer check-in discounts, so if you can add the app you might want to consider downloading it to your smart phone.

Zomato

Whether you’re a foodie or you’re just hungry for the best places to eat, you’ll want to check out this site. Zomato is one of the world’s leading providers of time-critical dining data.

Enter a city and state, and you’ll get a comprehensive list of restaurants complete with the name, what kind of food is served, menus, pictures, hours and all the all-important user reviews. Armed with this information, you can confidently make reservations for an important celebration or drop by that hole-in-the-wall for a quick bite.

Convention & Visitors Bureaus + Chambers of Commerce

Most major vacation cities have a Convention & Visitors Bureau and/or a Chamber of Commerce. These organizations can provide you with a wealth of information on what to do, where to go and what to see when you visit their fair cities. Use their tools to plan and prepare for your Global Discovery Vacations adventures!

Most provide travel tools including maps, weather information and even road conditions. You’ll often find downloadable Vacation Guides filled with attraction features and coupons. Plus event calendars and even mobile apps can help you plan your Vacation Week well before you ever arrive to your vacation destination.
