Global Discovery Vacations Review: A Stay in Delightful Dunedin, FL

Donna C. visited the Gulf for the first time recently and it as beautiful as you could imagine – amazing sunsets, glistening waters, good people. Dunedin, Florida, was just the place she was hoping for! Read all about it in this Global Discovery Vacations Member Monday.

Where would you recommend a fellow member to go to…
A short trip to Clearwater from Dunedin, we found the restaurant The Reef. It is a great place for great seafood. It was my husband’s birthday dinner so they also supplied him with a birthday dessert. Very good food.

Seafood from The Reef.

Have fun/attractions:
We went on a sunset/dolphin-watching cruise. The staff on the boat were very friendly. Although we only saw two dolphins, the sunsets were absolutely beautiful.

What was your favorite…
Resort/Condo Amenity:
The resort was very clean and nice. I liked the fact that there was a tiki bar at the resort and it had two pools – one for the public and one for the resort guests. The staff at the resort were very friendly and helpful when we had questions. The bartenders were excellent.

Beso Del Sol balcony view.

Place to go in the destination:
This resort was central to multiple destinations. During our trip to Dunedin, we ventured into Honeymoon Island, Clearwater, St. Petersburg and Tarpon Springs. I really did not have a favorite for this trip, it was all beautiful.

Why did you choose this destination? Were you traveling for a special occasion?
I chose this destination because it was a special offered to the members. It was very close to my daughter who lives in Jacksonville, Florida, on the east coast, and we had never been to the Gulf Coast.

Any tips for a traveler going to this resort or destination? Anything you think they should bring?
There is no beach at this destination so you will need to have transportation to get to most locations. The resort is however, in walking distance to the quaint little town of Dunedin. This is a very nice shopping area with a dock. We did not shop but did walk around.

About you

How long have you been a Global Discovery Vacations member? Approximately seven years.

Why did you join the club?
I went to a presentation with the full expectation of just coming home with the free gift because I was definitely not interested in a timeshare. This club is not like a timeshare, you are able to go anywhere at any time for a very reasonable cost.

My husband was actually the one convinced to join the program. We did not use the program for the first few years and what a mistake that was. Since using this vacation program, we have been able to go to multiple places that I would have never gone to before.

My husband and I plan on retiring in May and traveling to a lot more destinations.

How many trips have you taken using your membership?
We have taken several trips: Alaska Cruse, Lake Tahoe (which also gave us the opportunity to drive into San Francisco), Western Caribbean Cruise, Dunedin, Florida.

Why do you think traveling is important?
Traveling gives you the opportunity to see other locations and learn about other cultures, which helps to understand the diverse world we live in.

  1. We have been member for 61/2 years and have traveled many places in the US that we could not have done without the membership if Global. We just returned yesterday from the beautiful Whir Oak Lodge and cabins resort in Gatlinsburg Tenn. where we were able to attend the National Qurtet Convention. This resort was so comfortable and beautiful. Ready to go agin to Ruskin Fl in November . Love being able to afford traveling thanks to our membership with Global

    • So glad you’ve had a great experience as well, John! Can’t wait to hear about your next adventure.
