Global Discovery Vacations Review: First Snow on Lake Placid, NY

Global Discovery Vacations member Steve J. found some of New York state’s underrated scenery on a recent trip to the Lake Placid Club Lodges. True to its name, it was a relaxing mountain vacation for this couple – they even got to see some international-level bobsledding! Steve tells us his favorite parts of this former Winter Olympic site in this week’s Member Monday.

The Lake Placid Club Lodges were the best condos we have stayed in:

  • Huge space – two floors with a loft
  • Wood-burning fireplace

Place to go in the destination:
Morning walks around Mirror Lake.

We also watched an international bobsled competition at the Mt. Van Hoevenberg Bobsled track – amazing to see that up close!

Why did you choose this destination? Were you traveling for a special occasion?
We take an annual fall trip that is within driving distance from our home in New England.

What was your favorite memory of your vacation?
It was our first time to Lake Placid. Such a beautiful town and the Adirondack Mountains are gorgeous. We were also there for the first snow of the season!
