Sometimes going to the beach doesn’t equal warm weather, but Global Discovery Vacations member Debbie K. still made the most of her recent stay in Biloxi, Mississippi! The Ocean Club at Biloxi is right near the beach and in close proximity to a variety of activities, and Debbie shared her favorite spots with us in this week’s Member Monday.
Where would you recommend a fellow member go to…
McElroy’s on the Bayou is a nice place to look out the large window at the bayou. They have very good breakfast.
There are many places in the area for seafood. One place we ate at was Mikey’s on the Bayou, which was also very good and had many seafood choices.
There was a mall down from the condo that we stayed and many dollar stores to pick up the essentials (toilet paper, paper towels, etc.).
We visited the Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum. This was very interesting, as it feature many ships and a lot of history. We watched a film of Katrina and how much damage it did to Biloxi, which was very sad and interesting.
What was your favorite…
We loved the condo and the beautiful beach view from the balcony. Very spacious and nicely decorated, secure and the resort had excellent parking. It was close to many restaurants, shops, bars, etc.
It was a cold week for us, so we did not sit out there. They had an exercise facility and, if the weather is nice, the most beautiful pool and pool deck I have ever seen.
We did bundle up and walked the long sidewalk along the beach, which provided a nice view and good exercise. We loved driving in Gulfport and Biloxi while looking at all the beautiful homes with the large entrance ways. That gave you the southern atmosphere.
Place to go in the destination:
Biloxi has many shops, restaurants, beaches, museums and casinos if you like to gamble.
Why did you choose this destination? Were you traveling for a special occasion?
We choice this location to visit a friend from Michigan who travels there for the winter months. We have never been to Mississippi – it was a nice place to visit and we would definitely go back.
What was your favorite memory of your vacation?
The beach, the seafood and the sights of the southern lifestyle.
My husband is retired and I am working for approximately four more years, and hopefully we can use the plan more. Each year we look forward to a new destination and enjoy the surprise of the condos. I have also used it with my girlfriend to Mexico and have had beautiful condos.
How long have you been a Global Discovery Vacations member?
We have been members for approximately 11 years and have upgraded for more vacation weeks.
Why did you join the club?
The benefits and the ability to pass the membership down to our children when we are gone. We also love having many places that you can travel reasonably. We both purchased automobiles with this plan and saved over $1000 each.
We are very pleased with our Global membership and use it for various travel areas. Our children have also take advantage of it.
I had been to many time share presentations and was very uncomfortable with the high pressure presentation, the false promises, etc. When my husband received the call for this and told me he wanted to go, I was very surprised. The presentation went very well and it was not high pressure. I was going to say no due to just getting a new job and my husband just being retired. He said, “Yes, we want to take this.” I almost fell out of my chair. It is the best purchase we have ever made and so worth the money.
How many trips have you taken using your membership?
We have taken at least 16 or more trips and our children have used it several times.
Why do you think traveling is important?
It gets you away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and eases stress. You can see areas that you have never seen, learn the culture, eat different foods, see beautiful sights. Our future bucket list: Belize, Australia, Greece, Grand Canyon.
Life is short – enjoy it!
