Featured Destinations for Fall 2017

Traveling in the fall is great – the weather is mild, the crowds are smaller and the leaves are gorgeous. Most areas are no longer in Peak Season, so you can find some great value when you decide to take an autumn getaway!

If you need some suggestions on traveling during the upcoming season, here are a few Global Discovery Vacations destinations that would make for a great fall getaway. There’s something here for every type of traveler!

Wisconsin Dells

A popular tourist destination highlighted by its vast number of waterparks, you’ll find many of its outdoor attractions close when the weather cools. However, the outdoor experiences in the area can keep you busy.

Explore Devil’s Lake State Park, take a boat ride with the Wisconsin Ducks tour and hang with the wildlife at the Wisconsin Deer Park – not to mention the several indoor waterparks. Check out one of the many wineries and breweries, too! You can even look forward to the Wo-Zha-Wa Days Fall Festival in mid-September for more activities in town.

Saint Maarten/St. Kitts

If you just want a peaceful beach vacation, the Caribbean can give you everything you could want in the fall. Take advantage of the popular Mullet Bay Beach and spend the day watching the ships sail into the harbor. Of course, there is Maho Bay Beach, where you can watch the planes fly in overhead.

For good strolls and views, the forts on the island (Fort Amsterdam and Marina Fort Louis) can give you a different view of the historic island. Note that hurricane season runs until late October.

Cabo San Lucas

The fall is a sweet spot for tourism – the summer crowds have left and the winter crowds haven’t yet arrived. And when you look at Cabo’s hotel prices around that time of year, be glad you can book an affordable condo! Cabo actually has some fun festivals and fishing tournaments in the fall, such as Bisbee’s Black and Blue Marlin Tournament and the Lost Cabos Billfish Tournament. Locals will also celebrate Dia de los Muertos October 31 to November 2. Oh, yes, and they have great beaches.

Breckenridge, Colorado

Breckenridge is starting to become one of those towns without a significant tourist lull. There’s so much going on at any point during the year, there isn’t a bad time to stop by. In the fall, you have festivals galore, gorgeous golden aspens and the great Rocky Mountains for discovering. The big ski resorts in the area aren’t slated to open up until November 10, but you probably won’t even notice.

North Carolina Mountains

“On an October day trip from our Blue Ridge Village condo. I made it a point of pausing to rejuvenate my soul at Chimney Rock, North Carolina.” – Member Donald P.

The great outdoors have a splendor about them come autumn. If you want to spend time among the mountains, trees and wildlife, western North Carolina is your ticket to nature as far as the eye can see. Take a canoe out to Wildcat Lake, drive along scenic Blue Ridge Parkway and get a great view of the area from Linville Caverns. If you get a condo in Banner Elk near Sugar Mountain, October is prime leaf-changing time.

If you have the time for a fall vacation, it’s a great way to get in some extra R&R before the holidays hit. These destinations and more are available on our website. You can also give us a call at 800-879-7779 and one of our representatives will be glad to assist you.
