In our last blog I gave you some ideas for family fun in California, Arizona, Colorado and Missouri. If you are considering different states for your next vacation, then you are in luck! Check out these four Global Discovery Vacations destinations that should be on your list for some family friendly excitement.
Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin
Since “the Dells” is known for its waterparks, let’s dive right into it with Noah’s Ark Water Park. America’s largest of its kind has thrilling rides with enticing names such as Scorpion’s Tail, Point of No Return and Black Anaconda. Prepare to be drenched!
Mr. Marvel’s Wondertorium is an oddity museum filled with artifacts, animals and other fascinating tidbits. Don’t miss the show for some old-fashioned fire eating, glass walking and escapism. If you are looking for something a little strange and a little weird, then this is your kind of attraction.
Stay: Peppertree at Tamarack
The Smoky Mountains might not be the place where you would expect an aquarium, but think again, because Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies can hold its own. Check out Poisonous Dart Frogs (no touching), glide through an underwater tunnel or have a sleepover with sharks!
Do you have any car fanatics in your family? If the answer is yes, then head over to the Hollywood Star Cars Museum. You’ll get close to vehicles from the big screen, with oldies such as the 1966 Batmobile or the General Lee from “Dukes of Hazzard,” to more recent favorites such as the Nissan GT-R and Aston Martin DB9 from the “Fast and the Furious” franchise.
Stay: White Oak Lodge and Resort
Port Clinton, Ohio
Did you know Global has a convenient location across the bay from Cedar Point Amusement Park? Uniquely situated on Lake Erie, this park is a must for roller coaster fans. With 17 roller coasters to choose from, it is hard to believe that there other thrill rides and a waterpark as well.
Take a ferry or jet boat to one of the popular islands, Put-In-Bay or Kelleys Island. For some stunning photo ops, climb Perry’s Victory & International Peace Memorial.
Stay: Clinton Reef Club
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
If it’s (mostly) indoor fun you are after, then try Wonderworks. Go through the inversion tunnel to explore the upside down laboratory or experience one of three simulated thrill rides. When the weather cooperates, head outside for the zip-line and ropes course.
Playing golf is serious business in Myrtle Beach, but not quite the family activity. Why not hone your (mini) golf skills in Neverland at Captain Hook’s Adventure Golf? Putt your way through the storyline and work on your handicap, all while the kids are getting hooked on golf.
Stay: Barefoot Resorts
Which activity is a winner when you are away with the family? We love to hear about your family’s favorites!
