The magical yet unpredictable world of safaris can often lead to some great interactions with animals. Member Debora W. caught her son in just such a moment with a zebra during their trip to the Africa Safari Adventure Park in Costa Rica. We thought it was wild enough to take second place in the Shoot for the Stars Wild and Fun category, so we asked Debora more about it!
How was the safari?
It was the best safari I’ve ever been on.
We bought some carrots and got on the safari ride. You get to feed the animals as you go through, so giraffes would chase the truck, as well ostriches and bull-type creatures. The giraffes would st ick their head inside the vehicle for food. We were just being silly. My husband fed a giraffe carrots from his mouth.
Do you travel a lot as family?
We brought three of my sons, my husband, myself and my son’s girlfriend.
A lot of times we try to travel instead of buying a lot of Christmas presents and wasting money that way. That’s really not what Christmas is about. We think it’s better to spend quality time with each other in ways we don’t get most of the year. I try to do vacations as the present and, if not, we try to get together.
Is that why you purchased the membership in the first place?
Absolutely. I think people should go on vacation more. Life is short, and I think it’s good to travel with your families. Those are the times you remember.
How was the rest of your Costa Rica trip?
I loved it and I wished I could move there. If I could get the rest of my family on the same page, we would be there. The weather was different everywhere. It wasn’t like other vacations where you sit at your hotel on the beach the whole time. There’s just so much to do and see. Most people were heartwarming and very nice.
What other trips have your family enjoyed?
We just went to Mexico recently and it was nice because we were able to stop and check out things we didn’t even know existed there. I like to do my homework and find the interesting places that people don’t normally go to.
When the whole family gets to go on the trip, it makes it that much more special! We hope Debora and her family make many more memories in the coming years – and have fun while doing it.
