Affordable Vacationing: Condominium Travel

Anyone who travels with Global Discovery Vacations knows that a condominium offers much more than a hotel can, which allows you ample opportunities to avoid overspending.

We know that many of you are saving a lot with your membership alone, but we have other ways you can cut costs when booking a condo vacation with us. Here are four ways you can save on your next trip:

Take an Expressway
If you have a long weekend, take advantage of the serendipitous joys of Expressways. Many members use these as last-minute, road trip getaways since there isn’t a lot of planning involved. For example, if you live in Philadelphia, you’re just a three-hour drive from Ocean City, Maryland, no airfare needed. And even without a Star Credit, you get the condo for a whole week at an unbelievable price.

Travel During Value Season
Summer is the hottest time to travel, literally and figuratively. Resorts capitalize on this time dubbing it “Peak Season.” We know not everyone has much flexibility when it comes to when they go on vacation, but you can save yourself money and a Star Credit by traveling during Value Season (September, November and December for most destinations). We have a handy Season Guide on our website so that you can plan your vacations based on season.

Use Our Vacation Calculator
One of the features on our website is a convenient  Vacation Calculator that you can use to determine how much you will pay based on the details of your vacation. This tool is especially handy if you aren’t quite sure what you’re looking for but want to see what you’ll be paying. You can select from the Vacation Week Type, Bedroom Size, Vacation Season and if you have any travel insurance or Star Credits to use.

Use the Kitchen
We say this a lot, but kitchens are the ultimate money saver when you stay in a condo. Just make sure you know what appliances you have to work with beforehand, such as grills and microwaves. Stock up on food for the week and you’ll save a ton of money that you could’ve spent at restaurants.

A Global Discovery Vacations membership lets you travel for much less than you normally would, but the savings don’t have to stop there. Take the time to get to know your condo and be flexible on when you want to travel and you’ll save yourself all sorts of extra costs.

  1. Money is a big influence on where we will travel. We can afford a much better vacation with Global because we always make use of the kitchen. Thanks Global for affording vacations

  2. We’ve been travelling with GDV since 2001. Best decision ever. We are small business owners and were hit hard during the recession. GDV was a life saver. We were still able to get away with our family of 6 for much needed rest and rejuvenation because GDV makes vacationing so affordable. We always utilized the kitchen whether we packed our own coolers or stopped at the grocery store before we checked in. Our kids are older now, but we have a ton of fantastic memories because GDV made smart and frugal vacationing attainable. So thankful to GDV for that! There isn’t a service, membership or ownership out there that beats you guys (and we’ve sat through a fair share of presentations for freebies – lol)

    • Thanks so much for the kind words, Alice. It’s wonderful to hear how much the membership has been able to help you and your family. We hope you are able to make many more memories for years to come!

    • I ditto Alice Davidson Bradshaw’s response. Global is very affordable! We do not regret our decision in joining your family.
